Straight answers to the questions we hear most often from Nottingham & Midlands businesses about managed IT support, Microsoft 365, and how we work.

What is an MSP and what does ‘managed IT’ actually mean?

A Managed Services Provider (MSP) is an IT industry term for providers who offer more than a traditional “this is broken, please fix it” service. This type of support, known as ‘break-fix’, may work in the short term, but often results in a growing technical ‘debt’ that becomes harder to resolve as time goes on.

A true, modern MSP provides ‘managed IT’. This means proactive, strategised, and monitored services and support. In our case, this means we try to catch issues before they happen, monitor your environment for issues and threats, and help you plan how your IT infrastructure should evolve over time.

All of this helps improve the effectiveness of your IT infrastructure, so that your IT systems empower your business rather than slow it down.

Do we really need Microsoft 365 Business Premium?

If you're an existing customer, you'll know that we preach Business Premium for all Microsoft 365-based organisations. Many providers will set you up with a Business Standard plan and call it a day, but that might be cheaper in the short term while causing repercussions down the line.

Premium licenses offer an entire security suite that's missing from Standard licenses. That won't make much difference to how you and your staff operate day to day, but it makes an enormous difference to the overall security of your Microsoft 365 environment.

Some of the things Premium licenses allow you to achieve include: blocking 95% of malicious sign-in attempts, enforcing device policies (such as disk encryption) on all machines, remotely wiping stolen devices, and enabling advanced anti-virus with behavioural analytics to keep you safe from ransomware and advanced threats, plus much, much more.

Standard licenses will get you up and running; Premium ensures your business is here to stay.

What areas do you serve?

We cover a number of regions across Nottinghamshire and the wider Midlands. This includes Nottingham, Mansfield, Newark, Hucknall, Derby, Sheffield, Leicester, Lincoln, Burton-upon-Trent, and their surrounding towns and cities.

Do you work with large businesses and enterprises?

We work with larger businesses and enterprise customers on one-off engagements, such as the deployment of security solutions or developing digital transformation strategies. We have experience working in complex technical environments with up to 12,000 employees.

However, our core support services are targeted at small and medium-sized organisations. For this reason, we don't currently provide ongoing support services to businesses with over 100 employees.

What makes you different from other IT providers?

We could preach some jargon here about expertly leveraging effective technology to deliver real transformational value, and leave you no better off than every other IT firm's website. We're not here to sell you an unattainable dream. Our pitch is simple, because we know a few things:

  • A lot of small and medium-sized businesses suffer from enterprise-level bills for solutions too complex for their needs.
  • A lot of small and medium-sized businesses don't understand the technology that's been sold to them.
  • There are a lot of faceless support companies that go quiet when things go wrong.

So here's our value proposition:

  • Clear communication and practical business outcomes over technical jargon.
  • Advice that's relevant to your business, not cookie-cutter solutions that don't match your needs.
  • A security-first focus to ensure your data remains in safe hands.
  • No AI secretaries or hiding behind technology.
  • Face-to-face site visits as part of your package.
  • Training included as part of your solution deployment.
